Program Eligibility
Since its inception in the fall of 1996, the Freeman Fellows Program has supported the research and exchange activities of 197 Chinese scholars at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) with generous support from the Freeman Foundation. In recent years, higher costs associated with the recession and decreased foundation support have made it difficult to maintain the personnel and material resources necessary to operate the Freeman Fellows Program. Consequently, the University of Illinois will not host the Freeman Fellows Program after the 2012-2013 academic year.
