Welcome to the Freeman Fellows Program!

Welcome to the website of the Freeman Fellows Program. The Freeman Fellows Program is an entity of the Center for East Asian and Pacific Studies (CEAPS) and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Generously supported by the Freeman Foundation, the Freeman Fellows Program promotes international understanding through academic exchange between Chinese and American scholars. Targeting young professors in the humanities and social sciences since the fall of 1996, the Program has awarded grants to scholars to do research at the University of Illinois and coordinated the activities of the scholars while they are on campus. The scholars are selected from applicants from the eleven key Chinese universities, which are partner universities of the Freeman Fellows Program.
